VCCCI Vintage & Classic Vehicle Drive.
Annual Vintage Car Fiesta was held on Sunday,10th April 2022 at the World Trade Centre (WTC).
The Fiesta was supported by the WTC & sponsored by Maharashtra Tourism. Shri Aaditya Thackeray, Hon’ble.Minister for Tourism,Government of Maharashtra flagged off the event.The vintage and classic vehicles cruised down Marine Drive, Peddar Road,Worli Sea Face to the Bandra Worli Sea-link and returned to the WTC.
A total of 140 cars & 75 Bikes participated.
The lovely 1914 Wolseley Stellite entered by Monisha Dossa was the oldest Vintage Car to participate followed by the striking 1923 American la France Type 12 Fire Truck. Gautam Hari Singhania’s 1925 Duesenberg Model A entered for the 1st time in the event.It won the most Unique Car of the event award!
Some of the other unique cars included the Rolls Royce Phantom I, Rolls Royce Phantom III Ex Panchkote,Rolls Royce 20-25,Rolls Royce Phantom I, Fords,Bentleys,Lincolns, Chryslers,
Buicks ,Austins, Audi, Nash Metropolitan,Opel,Morgan, Bristol,DeSoto, MG, Bristol, Citroen,VWs & Triumph.
The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance winners which graced the event were Amir Ali Jetha’s 1935 Rolls Royce Phantom II Continental Gurney Nutting Streamline Coupe previously owned by the Royal family of Jodhpur. Nishant Dossa’s 1936 Alvis Speed 25 previously owned by the Maharaja of Mayurbhanj & Jagdish Thackersey’s 1935 Bentley Drop head Coupe-Derby ex Talcher.
The oldest vintage motorcycle participating was the elegant 1927 AJS of Jehangir Faroogh.Other wonderful two wheelers included the Enfield Mofa,BSAs,Triumphs,Nortons, Lambrettas,Vespas & Yamahas.
The Concours d’Elegance Vintage Car Award was won by the 1936 Lanchester Straight 8 of Hormusji Cama.This very rare and well deserving Vintage is the only one in the World!
Concours d’Elegance Classic Car Award was won by the majestic 1964 Ford Lincoln Continental Convertible of Yohan Z Poonawalla.This special classic was specially imported for Pope Paul VI’s India visit in 1964 by American catholics.After his visit the Pope donated the car to Mother Teresa who raffled it to raise money to build a hospital in India.
Mrs.Rupa Nair, Director, World Trade Centre, was the Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution ceremony.
Mr.Nitin Dossa, Chairman, VCCCI, “We had a wonderful turnout of the finest historic vehicles from Mumbai,Pune,Kolhapur,Sangli & other places in the Annual Vintage Car Fiesta.The Vehicles were displayed and judged in different categories according to their age- Vintage,Classic,Recent Classic & the Indian Heritage Class.The event attracted many automobile enthusiasts,photographers, children & tourists who visited the display and also viewed them on the Mumbai roads.”
